2019 Human Resources Challenge : In support of Gatineau Valley employers

Maniwaki, February 4, 2019 – The Gatineau Valley SADC, the Maniwaki Services Québec office, the Gatineau Valley RCM, the Caisse populaire de la Haute-Gatineau, the Gatineau Valley Carrefour Jeunesse Emploi and the Maniwaki and Gatineau Valley Chamber of Commerce would like to invite you to the 2019 Human Resources Challenges event to take place next February 26 and 27.

Topics such as attracting, recruiting and retaining workers, immigrant labour, the integration of young generations and life-work balance will be discussed at this two-day symposium. There will be something to deal with all challenges. This event, which will consist of conferences, workshops and discussion groups, will provide a forum where views and knowledge can be shared to provide employers in the region with the tools they need to manage their human resources.

BIP Recherche conducted a labour survey of Gatineau Valley companies for the Gatineau Valley SADC (http://www.sadc-vg.ca/images/documents/sondage-mo-releve-en.pdf) and uncovered significant challenges pertaining to the recruiting and retention of qualified workers and the challenges of integrating the younger generation into existing teams. Companies are expected to have, on average, 3.5 positions to fill in the upcoming year.

Pierre Monette, the Gatineau Valley SADC General Manager, pointed out that all companies that hire workers are confronting a significant challenge. “Employees today have much to choose from, as there are not enough candidates to fill the many job openings. The market is such that employers must resort to up-to-date strategies and be appealing to attract, recruit and retain their employees. The symposium will provide an opportunity to find out more about doing things differently and thus contribute to company growth.”

The 2019 Human Resources Challenge, which is the starting point of a comprehensive project known as Chantier relève, is intended for all Gatineau Valley employers, whether English or French. Those wishing to attend the various activities must make a reservation with the SADC. The cost is $25 per day, which includes lunch. You cannot afford to miss this event that will be held next February 26 and 27 at Auberge du Draveur in Maniwaki. (www.sadc-vg.ca)
